Uroradiology Unit

The activity of the Uroradiology Unit of The Division of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging is divided into two main areas: Diagnostic imaging and therapeutic intervention.

 

The diagnostic procedures include all the imaging techniques currently in use to image the upper and lower urinary tracts including IVP, CT, CT-Angio, MRI and U.S. Additionally, urodynamic examinations in both men and women are performed in cooperation with the physicians of the Department of Urology.

 

The therapeutic activities in our unit include Nephrostomies, Nephrourethrostomies, and Ureteral Stenting. These procedures are performed in coordination with the Interventional Radiology Unit in the setting of traumatic indications as well as for chronic lower urinary tract obstruction and as part of the preparation for E.S.W.L.

 

Other types of activities include MR-guided radiotherapy for Prostate Carcinoma, as well as embolization of Angiomyolipomata and other hypervascular benign and malignant kidney tumors in preparation for surgical intervention or in place of open surgery.
