Not always definitive: Abnormal organic acid levels can be suggestive but not always conclusive. Further testing may be needed to confirm a diagnosis. Might be normal when the patient is well and metabolically stable. Specimens collected even after a partial recovery may not reveal diagnostic abnormalities that are more readily detectable, under acute conditions. Dietary influences: Certain foods and medications can affect organic acid levels, so it's important to follow any instructions provided by the healthcare provider before the test.
